Nora Gashi

Nora Gashi, MD is a graduate of Prishtina University School of Medicine, Prishtina, Kosovo. She completed internship training at National University Hospital of Kosova and residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY in 2009.  For over a decade, Dr. Gashi has practiced primary care and hospital medicine in the community setting in states of NJ, NY, VT and HI. She maintains certification and licensing credentials in her specialty based on the highest standards of American medicine.

Dr. Nora Gashi was in the front line of patient care during COVID-19 pandemic which hit NY state early 2020. She provided around the clock care at White Plains Hospital in NY for 3 months and then was deployed to Hawaii to work at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, where she is currently in the front line of COVID-19 patient care.

Dr. Nora Gashi is an Albanian of Kosovo born in Belgrade, Former Yugoslavia during a time her parents were in residency training. She  spent her high school years in Durham North Carolina while her parents were in clinical fellowship training at Duke University Hospital in their respective specialties. The practice of medicine has always been an integral part of Dr. Gashi’s life as her both parents were sucessful surgeons . Her late father was one of the most well known thoracic surgeons in Kosovo where he held titles as Chief of Surgery and Dean of Medical School at the prestigious University Hospital and its affiliated medical school in the capital of Kosovo. Her mother, a retired OB-GYN is one of the first female surgeons in Kosovo. Her brother, Dr. Valbon Gashi is vascular surgeon in Prishtina, Kosovo.

Dr. Nora Gashi emigrated to the United States in June 1999 as a refugee of the Serbian-Kosovar war. She maintains close ties with her roots back home and the Albanian community in diaspora. She is engaged in efforts of supporting the Albanian Medical Cause around the globe by utilizing, maximizing and sharing medical education and awareness via tele-communication. She is a mother of two adult sons and in her free time she likes traveling, cooking, hiking and biking.
