Naim Kochiu (Koçiu), MD obtained his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin on a full scholarship through the Health Professions Scholarship Program and the United States Navy. He trained in Anesthesiology at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Virginia, with multiple rotations at institutions such as University of Virginia, Washington Hospital Center, King's Daughters Children's Hospital, Norfolk General Trauma Surgery, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Upon successful completion of residency training in anesthesiology, Dr. Kochiu immediately became a Diplomat with The American Board of Anesthesiologists and began independent practice as an attending physician in the field of Anesthesiology.  

Naim Kochiu (Koçiu), MD career began as an active duty officer and physician in the United States Navy. During his eight years of active duty service to the United States of America, Dr. Kochiu served as an anesthesiologist in locations all over the world, including places like Portsmouth, VA, Great Lakes, IL, Fifth Fleet Headquarters located in the Kingdom of Bahrain (Middle East), Naval Hospital Okinawa Japan, and deployments on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.  

Naim Kochiu (Koçiu), MD following his active duty service entered in the civilian private practice setting where he continues to work to this day.  He is currently practicing in SE Wisconsin as a general Anesthesiologist with a focus on cardiovascular surgery, ultrasound regional anesthesia, as well as high risk obstetric anesthesia.

Naim Kochiu (Koçiu), MD  was born and raised in the United States to immigrant Albanian parents, Veliko Hazis Koçiu (originally from Lazarat, Gjirokaster Albania) and Xhano Pondikati Koçiu(originally from Voshtinë, Greece).  He was the third of four children and the first in his family to pursue a career in the medical field. He was raised in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended the local public schools, high school and his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where he graduated with a degree in Biology earning Magna Cum Laude with honors. 

Naim Kochiu (Koçiu), MD is happily married to Elisabeta Dafilaj Kochiu, originally from Gjirokaster, Albania. They have three wonderful children; Isabella, Veliko, and Adam.  He enjoys spending time with his family, watching and reading historical documentaries, and traveling.  His favorite travel destination is Albania where he hopes to eventually visit all areas of the country from the Southern most point of Çameria to the Northern most point of Kosova and all points between.

He is a proud member of the Albanian American Medical Society and is dedicated in mentoring and guiding the new generation of Albanian physicians who would like to advance in the medical career and especially in anesthesiology.  He believes that networking and working together as a team is key to success.
